Workshop on Muon Physics at the Intensity and Precision Frontiers (MIP2024)

Our group recently participated in the MIP2024 workshop at Peking University from April 20th to 21st. Kim Siang served as the session chair for the precision measurement session, while three of our group members (Yusuke, Siew Yan, and Guan Ming) presented at the plenary session and nine at the poster session. Fangchao, Jun Kai, and Yuzhi won the Best Poster Awards for their work on the Shanghai Muon Source, the Muon g-2 experiment, and the muEDM experiment, respectively. Congratulations to them! For more information about the workshop, please visit https://indico.cern.ch/event/1356341/. The next edition of the workshop, MIP2025, will be hosted by Hunan University at Changsha! We are all very excited about it!

SHINE电子束流科学应用与关键技术研讨会

Our group recently participated in the SHINE electron beam’s Applied Science and Key Technology workshop from April 1st to 2nd. Kim Siang delivered a talk on the Muon Source based on SHINE and its applications. Several members from TDLI also attended the meeting, and we enjoyed a comprehensive tour of the SHINE facility. We are all very excited about the progress of the SHINE construction!

Lanzhou Trip for Muon Physics Exchange

From Mar 3rd to 4th, Kim Siang visited Lanzhou for the first time to engage in an academic exchange with Prof. Zhiyi Liu’s group on Muography, accompanied by several officers from the Shanghai government. He also gave a seminar talk on Muon Physics at the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), CAS. We enjoyed a comprehensive tour of IMP’s accelerator facility, which was truly eye-opening. The trip was extremely successful, as we learned a great deal about muography from Prof. Liu’s group and had extensive discussions about future collaborations with both Lanzhou University and IMP. We look forward to our next visit!

SJTU Summer Research Internship Program 2024

We are accepting SJTU Summer Research Internship students this summer! The program we offer is the measurement of the muon properties using tabletop setup in our laboratory at the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute.

上海市和教育部重点实验室2023年度学术委员会联席会议

Kim Siang has represented the accelerator-based particle physics experimental group for the Key Laboratory for Shanghai and MOE for the annual report. In the presentation, Kim Siang elaborated the progress in three main directions of the group, the collider experiments (ATLAS and CEPC), the fixed-target experiment (Dark SHINE) and the storage ring experiments (Muon g-2 and muEDM). Lots of progress have been made for 2023 and we hope for more in 2024!

27th J-PARC Muon g-2/EDM collaboration meeting at Niigata University

Meng has attended the 27th J-PARC Muon g-2/EDM Collaboration Meeting at Niigata University and presented a talk about the status of the muon polarization monitor. The exchange between the Shanghai Muon Physics Group and the KEK/J-PARC Muon Physics group has became a regular and we hope for a stronger collaboration in the future!

ICFA Seminar 2023

Kim Siang was recently invited to give an overview talk on electromagnetic dipole moments at the prestigious ICFA seminar 2023 on “Future Perspectives in High Energy Physics”. It is a four-day international exchange of information concentrating on plans for future facilities in the field of particle physics. The meeting is by invitation only and comprises the directors of most of the world’s major laboratories in our field, senior particle and accelerator physicists, and government science officials from several countries. Please visit the link for more details about the meeting: https://indico.desy.de/event/38293/.

MELODY 2023

Our group recently participated in the first Workshop on Muon Science Technology and Industry (MELODY2023) at the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). Kim Siang presented our group’s efforts in the Shanghai Muon Source, the Fermilab Muon g-2 experiment and the PSI muEDM experiment. All the progress would not be possible without the hardwork of all the group members! More information about the workshop can be found here: https://indico.ihep.ac.cn/event/20601/.
