Prof. Ruidan Zhong is a Tsung-Dao Lee fellow of Fundamental Quantum Science Devision at TDLI, and an Associate Professor of School of Physics and Astronmy at Shanghai Jiao Tong University since 2020. Research in Zhong Lab is focused on the design, synthesis and characterization of novel quantum materials.
Ruidan obtained her PhD from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and conducted her PhD research at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Under the supervision of Dr. Genda Gu and Dr. John Tranquada, she focused on the experimental investigation on quantum materials including topological materials and high-temperature superconductors. She worked as a postdoc with Prof. Robert J. Cava at Princeton University, where her research interest was about novel quantum materials exploration with a focus on the magnetism in frustrated magnets. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her little girl, reading detective novels, playing “Don’t Starve”, and growing plants.
Students
Yongwei Li
Yongwei Li (L) is a Phd student (2021.09-Present). L loves physics, ACG including anime and comics, and social science. There are lots of art and music shows in Shanghai, which consumes L’s spare time.
Hong Du
Hong Du obtained her bachelor’s degree from Zhengzhou University in 2021. She started her PhD from September 2021 in TDLI, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Her currently research is focused on using various techniques to synthesize strongly correlated materials and studying their electronic and magnetic behaviors.
