{"id":2415,"date":"2025-09-30T21:10:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T13:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web.tdli.sjtu.edu.cn\/kimsiang84\/?p=2415"},"modified":"2025-11-20T21:31:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T13:31:16","slug":"7-summer-research-interns-completed-their-work-in-our-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.tdli.sjtu.edu.cn\/kimsiang84\/2025\/09\/30\/7-summer-research-interns-completed-their-work-in-our-group\/","title":{"rendered":"7 Summer Research Interns completed their work in our group"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This summer, the <strong>Muon Physics Group at the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI)<\/strong> had the pleasure of hosting <strong>six talented students<\/strong> from around the world for their internship projects under the supervision of <strong>Prof. Kim Siang Khaw<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our interns came from diverse backgrounds, <strong>Phuriphat Intanit (Nice)<\/strong> from <em>Suranaree University of Technology<\/em>, Thailand; <strong>Martina Pratesi<\/strong> and <strong>Yuting Gademski<\/strong> from <em>University College London (UCL)<\/em>, UK; <strong>Pedro Salvatico<\/strong> from <em>Faculdade Israelita de Ci\u00eancias da Sa\u00fade Albert Einstein<\/em>, Brazil; <strong>Jing Tian Yong<\/strong> and <strong>Junyi Gu<\/strong> from <em>Xiamen University Malaysia<\/em>, Malaysia, and <strong>Qi Jie Tin<\/strong> from University Technology Malaysia, Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the summer, they actively contributed to a range of projects spanning <strong>muon physics, detector development, and data analysis<\/strong>: <strong>Phuriphat (Nice)<\/strong> completed a study on <em>g-factor measurement<\/em> using an in-house built solenoid and conducted a <em>radiation study for the SHINE facility<\/em>; <strong>Martina<\/strong> worked on the <em>muography project<\/em>, characterizing detector performance based on scintillating materials coupled with <em>SiPMs<\/em> and a <em>CAEN-based data acquisition system<\/em>; <strong>Pedro<\/strong> explored the use of <em>machine learning techniques<\/em> to enhance density inference in muon tomography, a promising approach using naturally occurring cosmic-ray muons. <strong>Jing Tian<\/strong>, <strong>Junyi, <\/strong>and<strong> Qi Jie<\/strong> focused on <em>particle detection studies<\/em>, characterizing SiPM operation and gaining hands-on experience with <em>electronics for particle detection<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interns joined at different times throughout the summer, creating a lively and collaborative environment filled with learning and discovery. They leave the group with valuable research experience, new technical skills, and great memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We thank all seven interns for their dedication and enthusiasm, and we wish them every
